What is Royal Rangers?
Building the next generation of Christlike men.
Royal Rangers is the Assemblies of God ministry for boys and young men in kindergarten through 12th grade. Since 1962, it has helped boys grow the way Jesus did: “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52). That means growing mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially.
Local Royal Rangers groups are called outposts. Every week, boys get a Bible lesson, make friends, learn hands-on skills from caring mentors, and earn awards along the way. It’s discipleship that feels like an adventure.
Step 1
Evangelize
Reach boys with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Step 2
Equip
Train boys to become the next generation of Christlike men.
Step 3
Empower
Send them out to serve as lifelong servant leaders.
Find your group
Four groups. One big adventure.
Every boy has a place in Royal Rangers. Each group is built for its age, so the challenges grow as your Ranger does.

Kindergarten – 2nd grade
Ranger Kids
Where the adventure begins!
Our youngest Rangers learn about Jesus through Bible stories, games, crafts, and hands-on fun with their group and at home.
The trail: Boys follow three trails, the Trail to the Elk, the Wolverine, and the Cougar, finishing one step each quarter. All 15 steps earn the Ranger Kids Gold Trail Award.

3rd – 5th grade
Discovery Rangers
Explorers in the making.
Boys make new friends, learn real skills, and grow into the young men God created them to be. Think first aid, rope craft, fishing, art, and model rockets!
The trail: Rangers earn Bible, skill, and leadership merits, with more than 50 blue skill merits to choose from.

6th – 8th grade
Adventure Rangers
Bigger challenges. Bigger adventures.
Middle schoolers take on skills like archery, canoeing, photography, and even skateboarding, while weekly Bible lessons build a faith that lasts.
The trail: More than 70 green skill merits, plus Bible merits and leadership merits that build teamwork.

9th – 12th grade
Expedition Rangers
The ultimate expedition.
High schoolers tackle auto mechanics, fly fishing, rock climbing, graphic arts, and more. They dig into God’s Word together through Spirit Challenges and step up as leaders.
The trail: More than 80 silver skill merits, on the road toward the Gold Medal of Achievement, the highest advancement award in Royal Rangers.
