You’re invited to spend Christmas Eve with us! Join us on Thursday, December 24 at 7:00 PM for our Christmas Eve service, featuring a brand-new Christmas play called “Just Be Joseph.”
About the play
We all know the Christmas story, but have you ever thought about it from Joseph’s side? In “Just Be Joseph,” Joseph is a hard-working carpenter and a bit of a worrier. When an angel tells him that Mary’s son will be the King, Joseph panics. He wants a plan, a training program, and maybe a royal-size crib. He’s sure he has to become somebody else to raise the Son of God.
Along the way you’ll meet a tired Roman census officer, a very overbooked innkeeper and his kind wife, and a family of shepherds (including one little shepherd who never goes anywhere without his toy lamb, Snowball). It’s funny, it’s heartfelt, and it follows the Christmas story from Scripture, from Nazareth all the way to the manger in Bethlehem.
The big idea is simple: God calls us to serve as who we are. He doesn’t expect us to be someone we’re not.
What to expect
- A Christmas play of about 40 minutes, with music, including “Joseph’s Song” by Michael Card
- Christmas carols we’ll all sing together
- A children’s choir as the angels in the shepherds’ field
- Closing together with “Silent Night”
